How to Find the Best Southern US Beaches - Most people in the summer we went on holiday to flock to the beach, wherever we are. 2 Visit the Destin, Florida. Leonard Destin, a fisherman named New England town in the 1840's. Destin has since become known as the luckiest fishing village in the world in the Florida panhandle. Charter boats are available for those who want to test their fishing skills. Head over to Destin Commons for a free concert on the first Friday of every month. Find a restaurant in Destin to satisfy every appetite and shopping at Silver Sands Factory Stores with over 100 stores in it.
3 Travel west to Alabama and find Orange Beach or Gulf Shores neighborhood. In August you will find the "Thunder Bay" power boat races in Orange Beach. Accommodations of all types can be found in Orange Beach or Gulf Shores, but renting a condo overlooking the emerald water and white beach is the way to go. Do not miss the Dauphin Island in Alabama about 35 miles from Mobile on state highway 193. Let Dauphin Island yacht show around or hike to the lighthouse.
4 Texas offers miles of shoreline. Galveston and South Padre Island's most famous course, but the beaches are less crowded on Mustang Island just 30 minutes from downtown Corpus Christi. Take the JFK Causeway or the Port Aransas Ferry Port Aransas, on the northern tip of the island and the town only on Mustang Island. Part of the Texas Coastal Birding Trail Great walk through Mustang Island, so birders, be prepared to treat. Houston-Bay area has Boardwalk Kemah, 215 Kipp Avenue. Experience the carnival, the beach resort and the coaster board 96-foot-tall wooden roller bullets. At each beach community, you will enjoy the sea breezes, sandy beaches and friendly Southern hospitality.
